Obituary of Eileen Mary Collins

GLENMONT – On September 12, 2018 at the tender age of 48 and after a long fought battle, our father in heaven called his very special angel, Eileen M. Collins, to enter his kingdom.

Eileen was born on December 9, 1969 in Albany, NY to Mary Janet Smith and Harold E. Smith, II (deceased).  She was a loving, caring soul, who touched everyone she ever met.  Eileen received a journalism degree from SUNY Albany, NY, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  She began her career in 1997 with the NYS Office of the State Comptroller, where she continued as a dedicated employee for 16 years.

Eileen’s special places were: the ocean beaches, camping, her summer home on Sacandaga Lake and just experiencing the world.  Eileen pursued many hobbies: art, photography, music and most recently, a Reiki certificate.

Eileen leaves behind her mother, Mary Janet Smith; fiancé, William Koren; sister, Sherrill L. Smith (Domenico DiCaprio); brother, Kevin M. Smith; half siblings, Shirley Trossbach, Alicia Ryan, Harold E. Smith, III, and Roger Smith; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and her beloved companion Bailey, “Foofy dog”.

Our family would like to extend special thanks to Drs. Rufus Collea, Andrea Breen, and all of the wonderful hospice caregivers who showed Eileen and our family such great compassion and kindness throughout the years.  You truly made a positive impact in her life and ours.

Calling hours for family and friends will be at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar on Wednesday, September 19 from 4 to 6 pm.  A memorial service will follow at 6 pm at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY  12204.
