Louise and my mom Elaine were co-dependent. Living next door, when one was busy or strained, the other would take ALL of the kids (Louise's four and Elaine's seven boys) so there'd be a breather. But sometimes we'd all do things together. Running through the backyards, it felt like one big yard. I also remember Louise's unstoppable hospitality, to serve and share without any return. I'm glad she was my second mom, and I cherish the part of her I carry with me.
