Obituary of Hazel D'Ascoli

DELMAR - Hazel D'Ascoli, 92, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in New Salem on October 26, 1919, she was one of ten children born to Charles and Minnie (Countryman) Groesbeck. She will be remembered for being a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother always putting the needs of others before her own. She was a deeply spiritual woman who gained both comfort and solace from reading scripture. She will be missed by all who knew her. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Mario M. D'Ascoli. Survivors include her children, Kathleen D'Ascoli, Jeanine Lucier (William) and Michael D'Ascoli; her sister, Helen Wiegand; grandchildren, Jessalyn Allen, Melania and Jeffrey Rex and Michael and Maxx D'Ascoli; great grandchildren, Fenton and Clayton Allen and Ethan Rex and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held 10 am Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
