My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Thumhart family. Fred was an inspiration to many in the Law Enforcement community that knew and worked with him. Many years ago Shelter Island was my patrol area as a young Conservation Officer,Fred loved the outdoors especially when it came to clamming and fishing. Blessed are the peace makers for they shall be called the children of God. Rest in peace Colonel,as you take your place as a Sentry at Heavens Gate with those peacemakers who have gone before you.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you in the loss of your husband, Fred. I have many fond memories of cousin Fred when I was young, down at Highlands Beach and visiting at his home in Yonkers. I am so glad that we connected again later in life and enjoyed meeting you and your family up at the Stonehedge for cousin reunions and the many rides we took down to Sea Bright to visit with Martin. I know that Fred is in a better place and you also have been spared, like me,going through a long illness. So glad that you had 56+ years with Fred and had such a wonderful marriage. Please keep in touch with us. May God bless you and Fred Jr. Love, Cousin Julie

Fred and I worked together from the time he entered the NYS Police until I retired and later when he was employed at GE and my company did business with them.
He was a great asset to the State Police and to any community he was associated with.
He loved his wife and family ,God and our Country openly and he and Linda were among the best friends that my recently deceased wife, Loretta and my family treasured.
Fred and Linda stood with us all the way through several tough times in our lives and I will miss him very much and pray that someday we will all meet again.
God Bless Fred and Linda who made it possible for him to live life to the fullest.
I salute a trooper's trooper.
