The first story happened while I was growing up. It was a Sunday and Dr. Pesnel received a phone
call from Frank Corr regarding his little girl, Barbara, who had stomach pain. He was told to bring her to his Newscotland Avenue office. On the ride there the parents thought Barbara kept falling asleep and waking up. At the office Dr. Pesnel lightly touched her stomach and she showed signs of pain. Dr.Pesnel quickly called St.Peter's. Hospital and told themto have an OR ready for an emergency operation. That day he saved that little girls life, she had a r ubptured appendix. She was very sick and in the hospital for months. She is now the mother of 3 and 0grandmother of 2 and my wife for the past 39 years.
Another story was when he was the Doctor in charged at St. Peter's Hospital and my first daughter, Melissa, was borned. I needed a good Doctor and I knew that Dr. Pesnel would tell me who was best. We had a great visit. He told me several stories. One was a great story of my dad of Kleins Pharmacy

I am so very sorry to hear of Dr. Pesnel passing away. I have many fond memories of him. Dr. Pesnel saved my wife's life, Barbara Corr, on a Sunday in 1966 when she was 12. I asked his advice and took it many times. He was the BEST and it would be very hard to find any one who could even come close to being his egual! He will be missed by many! My prayers and thoughts go to all of you. With my deepest respect and condolence, Jeffrey Klein & family

I was a Medic during World War II and the then Captain M. Edwin Pesnel was a Medical Officer. When the 518th Medical Clearing Company was in Europe Pesnel, I and several others were sent on special assignment to Etzel, Germany very near Cologne. The camp was operated by UNRRA and we offered medical services to the Polish people.
While memories may be short I recall no critical words about or from Pesnel. I'm pleased to have served with him in Camp Etzel and it brings back memories of long ago. And the icing on the cake, as it were, is the fact that after decades I found Pesnel and we had the opportunity to share memories prior to his last illness.
My sincere sympathy to Mrs Pesnel and the extended family.
