Obituary of Angela Buono

Angela “Nana” Buono, 81, of Slingerlands and the Bronx, passed away on May 10, 2023.

Angela “Angelina” Addeo was born in Brusciano (Naples), Italy to Ottavio and Rosa in 1942. She worked on her family’s farm until she moved to the United States in 1968 to join her husband Angelo, where they spent several beautiful decades raising their family in the Bronx. She was proudly a retired lunch lady from the New York City Board of Education where she worked for 31 years. Family was everything to her and everyone who came into her home was family. Her cooking was legendary both at home and work. After a long battle with illness Angela passed away peacefully and with dignity surrounded by family at home.

Angela is survived by her son Joseph (Loralynn) Buono of Bayshore and grandchildren Thomas and Sarina Buono; daughter Maria (Alon) Dominitz of Slingerlands and granddaughters Stephanie Toniolo and Kristie (Matthew) Smith, and great-granddaughter Isabella. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Angelo, parents, and siblings Sebastian and Rafelina.

The family wishes thank Dr. Kevin Costello and their extensive network of friends, without whom the past few joyous years would not have been possible. 

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 13 from 2 to 4 pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 15 at 10 am at Saint Francis Xavier Church, 1703 Lurting Ave., Bronx, NY 10461.  Entombment will follow at Saint Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Ave., Bronx, NY 10465.
