Obituary of Susan A. Klein

Susan Anne (Doran) Klein, devoted wife and loving mother, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 1, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany, NY. Susan was born on September 10, 1945 to the late William and Mabel (Sullivan) Doran. Susan graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1963. She had a passion for the game of Bridge and earned the coveted title of Life Master, an achievement her whole family takes pride in. Susan married Kevin D. Klein, owner and founder of Sutter’s Mill and Mining Company (Sutter’s), a business they successfully ran together for four decades. Susan was predeceased in death by her husband who died in 2010.

Susan is survived by her four children, Melissa Anne Tremel (Michael), Newcastle, WA, Henry Irving Klein III (Melissa), Slingerlands, NY, David Kevin Klein (Annie), Park City, UT and Peter William Klein (Joanne), Seattle, WA; her grandchildren, Alexandra Eagan (Jack), Andrew and Addison Tremel, Henry Irving IV and William Klein, Scarlett and Tenneson Klein, and Sydney Klein. Susan is also survived by three sisters: Linda (Ted) Lupul, Judy Doran and Wilma DeLucco, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30am on Friday, May 19, 2023 at The Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, 35 Adams Pl. Delmar, NY.  Inurnment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont, N.Y. There will be no calling hours.

Following the service, we welcome all who wish to celebrate Susan (Nana) at the Albany Country Club from 12:30-3:30pm.
