Obituary of Anna G. Uhl

Anna Christina Elizabeth (Gallasch) Uhl, 98, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 26, 2021.

Born in Albany on April 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Curt and Margaret (Krauss) Gallasch. Anna was a graduate of Albany High School and during the war worked at Montgomery Ward and Armour & Co. as a comptometer operator.  She married Edwin W. Uhl, Jr. on September 14, 1947, in Albany and devoted herself to raising their family. Anna found the greatest joy by showing loving care to her family.  It was extremely important to her that family was together to celebrate notable events and holidays.

She enjoyed bowling, golf, ballroom, and square dancing with her husband as members of the Aurania, Fort Orange, and Albany Country Clubs.  She was a member of Albany Institute of History and Art, and Bethlehem Historical Association.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband. Anna was a miniaturist belonging to N.A.M.E and La Mini Scala and enjoyed years creating dollhouses, scenes, and projects, proudly showing them to all that knew her.  Her hobbies also included crocheting, and other crafts which she lovingly gifted.

She was a member of St. Paul, St. Matthew, and Bethlehem Lutheran Churches, where she served on the Altar Guild and Fellowship Committees.  She held a deep faith for her Lord and Savior which reflected through love and kindness to anyone that knew her.

.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edwin, sister, Margaret Hildebrandt, and niece, Karen Burrows.

Anna is survived by her son Kurt Uhl (Mirca); daughter, Joann Susser (Bruce); grandchildren, Katie Willey (Luke), James Susser (Megan), Kristopher Uhl, John Slater (Christine) and Janyl McCarthy (Corey); great grandchildren, Adam, Eric, Evelyn, William, Eli and Cassius; and niece, Susan Sehl.
