Obituary of Keith Matthew Adams

Please note : Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, all services for Keith "Matt" Adams have been postponed until the Spring.

Keith “Mattie” Adams, 57, passed away suddenly on December 24, 2021 in his home in Voorheesville, NY where he resided for over 30 years. Mattie touched so many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Matt was born to Mary (Ballantine) and Keith Adams on September 6, 1964 and grew up in Glenmont, NY. After graduating Bethlehem High School in 1982, Matt followed in his father’s footsteps and attended Alfred State University. Mattie’s passion for machinery and heavy equipment led him to obtain his Associates Degree in Diesel Mechanics in 1984. He continued on to work a successful 30 years for the New York State Thruway Authority as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and retired in 2019.

Although sometimes rough around the edges, everyone knew he was a big teddy bear. Many were touched by his kindness and love for his friends and family. He was the man you could always count on no matter what, a legacy he should be remembered for. Mattie was a great listener and always put others before himself. For many, Mattie was the go-to mechanic and helped many with repairs and routine maintenance. He never expected anything in return, just a good time over some cold beers.

Matt’s greatest joy was his family whom he loved more than anything and is survived by his wife Samantha (Piparo); children Emily and Jacob; sister, Valerie Newell; brother in law Thomas Newell; nieces Kimberly, Stephanie, and Erin Newell. Preceding him in death was his father, Keith Adams Sr. and mother, Mary Adams. Mattie’s blunt openness, bone-crushing hugs and infectious belly laugh are already missed dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Capt. John J. McKenna IV Military Courtesy Room, 737 Albany Shaker Road, Albany, NY 12211 for their hospitality and generosity to traveling service members in the Capital Region.
