Obituary of Susan D. Hart

    Susan Lynn (Davis) Hart, 76, passed away at home with her family at her side on September 3rd, 2021, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

    Born in Akron, Ohio, May 22, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Sarah (Epstein) and Harry H. Davis.

    Susie’s bachelor’s degree in biology and master’s degree in education led to a short career as a high school biology teacher, abandoned in favor of a focus on home and family.  Her love of nature and travel took her and the family to many parts of our beautiful nation and the world.

    Susan is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph J., her son Aaron D. (Elizabeth), daughter Kimberly P. Ciampa (Anthony), sister Deena L. Davis (Mordechai Olcha), and six grandchildren: Elaine, Lauren, Carolyn and Audrey Hart; Nicholas and Yvette Ciampa.  She was pre-deceased by her daughter-in-law, Catherine (Wells) Hart.

    Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 AM on Thursday, September 9th, at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar, followed by a service and burial at Saratoga National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.  COVID vaccination or masks will be required for these services.

    In the compassionate spirit she embodied throughout her entire life, Susie requested that in lieu of flowers in her honor, donations in her memory be directed to Food Pantries for the Capital District, 32 Essex St., Albany, NY 12206.
