Obituary of Carolyn Miller

DELMAR - Carolyn Margaret Miller, 78, of Delmar, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011 in her home. She was born in Englewood, NJ on February 1, 1933 and raised in Glendale, California with her family, where she eventually met her loving husband. She was married to her soul mate, Donald Spencer Miller in 1954. A long time resident of Troy and Delmar, NY, Carolyn had a very rich life with her husband and children. She and Don made wonderful travel companions and enjoyed living in Bern, Switzerland, Heidelberg Germany and Melbourne, Australia. For 25 years she loved her job teaching first and fifth grade at the Tamarac School in Brittonkill School District. Carolyn was active and energetic all her life and played tennis, hiked and cross-country skied. She sang in several choruses and loved theater. An exuberant woman and caring friend, Carolyn was close with those in clubs she was involved with. She was a volunteer naturalist at Five Rivers Environmental Center, an active member of the Bethlehem Garden Club, a reader at WMHT in the RISE program and an active tennis player at The Albany Tennis Club and Jekyll Island Tennis Club in Georgia. Carolyn is survived by her devoted and loving husband Donald S. Miller. She was the beloved mother of Sandra L. Miller of Plainfield, NJ; Kenneth D. Miller of Clifton Park, NY; and Christopher S. Miller of East Quogue, NY and adored grandmother of Cara Hurley, Michael, Julianna and Alexander Miller, and Cole Miller. Carolyn is also survived by her half siblings Judy Holman, Bill Losee and Richard Losee and their families. She was pleased to discover this missing piece of her history later on in life and the siblings welcomed each other with open arms. A memorial service is planned for Spring 2012. In remembrance of Carolyn M. Miller, those that wish to do so may make a contribution to Friends of Five Rivers, 56 Game Farm Road, Delmar, NY, 12054, and/or the RISE program of WMHT, 4 Global View, Troy, NY 12180, and/or the Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
