William "Bill" Tryon

April 28, 1950 — April 23, 2024

South Bethlehem, NY

William (Bill) Tryon, 73, went home to be with the Lord on April 23rd, 2024, after a courageous fight at Albany Medical Center. He was born on April 28th, 1950.

Bill is predeceased by his father Reginald Ven Erle Tryon, his mother Mary J. (Hill) Tryon, his brothers Phillip Tryon, and Paul Tryon.

He is survived by his wife Jill (Damon) Tryon of South Bethlehem, son Neil Hinds of Selkirk, daughter Erin (AJ) Gonzalez of South Bethlehem, son William (Samatha) Tryon of South Bethlehem, daughter Starr (Josh) Button of Rotterdam, and son Austin Tryon of Texas. Also survived by his brother and sisters Marc (Eileen) Tryon, Jeannine Tryon- Kade, and Kathleen (Barry) Sowards and seven wonderful grandchildren.

Bill was the best father a child could ask for. Every single act of parenting was done with complete and total love and selfless devotion. He moved mountains for his children many many times. He made sure we had the best childhood anyone could ever want, from camping in the Adirondacks to moonlit lantern walks, to slip n slides with a water pump and tarps, to catching fish with our bare hands. Every waking moment we spent outside building, feeding animals, planting everything imaginable or even just laying in the grass looking up at the clouds or watching for shooting stars. He taught us how to be good parents too. He instilled such a fierce love for family in us that will still be felt for generations to come! He showed us how to fight for our children when the world fails them, how to love unconditionally, how to shine bright with love when the world around us is falling apart, and how to just adopt (literally and figuratively) any children around that need love and a safe place to just exist. Our home became a home away from home for so many and that brought him so much joy! I know many of you are reading this now, missing him as much as we do, and I want you to know that he loved you all too! He thought of every one of you kids as family and was thrilled to have you around. He was a great father to many.

After the birth of his children he found the passion to farm! He taught us how to grow our own lush gardens and raise our animals with love and devotion so we will always have food on our tables, no matter what. He loved going up and watering his cows every day and rototilling our garden beds every spring which he would immediately lay down in in the freshly overturned soil, boots and shirt off, and "ground" himself. Often we would find him taking a nap on a dirt pile or in the grass under a tree, a quick rejuvenation before he hopped back on the tractor to go finish one project or another. He always had several projects going at once, he was a man who loved having a full plate! I do not think he ever experienced bordem because he simply loved to move and to do! He lived for driving down our dusty roads, scanning the sky for long anticipated rainstorms after we finally got the hay in.

He loved to watch the weather and plan his projects around whatever was coming! Hay season was always a race to beat the rain but it made it so exciting! He would get so thrilled when we put the last bale in the barn, take a quick dive in the pool to cool off, and THEN it could rain!

But of all the things he loved to do around the farm, I think firewood was his favorite! I'm pretty sure he looked forward to starting that each year about halfway through the summer! He would start bringing down logs in September and by October he would be splitting full tilt, happy as can be! This last year he did 30 cords of firewood! 30!! For the past decade he has been telling us "Make sure you put this on my gravestone - 'I sure hope there's firewood in heaven!'" And that we will! I'm sure he is up there now, in full glory, sitting by the splitter, making mounds and mounds of firewood with his chainsaw on one side of him and his cup of coffee on the other while Rudy waits in the truck for their daily ride to the "corner store" for hard rolls and diesel fuel.

Bill owned and operated “Tryon Excavating“ for 40 years then semi-retired to farming.

Bill Tryon also was known as an enthusiastic patriotic American, who was renowned for organizing and leading Freedom Fest events and was the founder of The Liberty Bell Alliance 76, a patriotic organization that sponsored rallies, historical events, veterans and civic organizations. Bill loved the veterans and always made a point of thanking them for their service to this country! His inspirational messages always talked about the many brave young men and women who have sacrificed so much for us to enjoy the freedoms we have today.

Bill also was a born again Christian who frequently was directed by God to share his faith. He is a member of Liberty Christian Fellowship Church, whose motto is: We participate in Christ’s great Commission by making disciples who can apply the Bible to every aspect of life, including civics. This was Bill's life, he truly had a heart of God for his fellow man. He went out with his boots on. He will be missed.
