Wesley A. Albright, a long time resident of Delmar, NY, passed away at the age of 98, on August 23, 2017, in Annapolis, MD, where he relocated to in 2014. He was born on July 10, 1919 in McKownville, NY to the late Edna Garrison Albright and Willard Helme Albright. Wesley graduated from the old Altamont High School, Class of 1936 and completed his academic education at Union College where he was president of the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.
He then enlisted as an aviation cadet in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942, won his "wings", and was assigned as flight instructor, South Training Command. He rose to the rank of Captain and became a fighter pilot flying the famed P-51 Mustang.
Wesley enjoyed a 45- year career as a real estate broker and served as the President of the Albany Realty Board and Vice President of the New York State Board of Realtors. He taught at Russell Sage Night School for several years. He was a former member of the University Club, Albany Executive Board, and Aurania Club.
He was a long-time and honorary member of the Normanside Country Club. Wesley was a serious golfer, a Civil War buff, and enjoyed a good game of bridge.
Wesley was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mildred Baker Albright; his second wife, Ruth Albright; his son James Albright; his sister, Grace Bloom and a dear friend, Elsie Stout.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Wyman of Harwood, MD; and two sons, Dr. Glenn Albright of Bedford, NY and Russell Albright of Torrance, CA; and nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were private. Wesley was laid to rest at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Delmar, NY.
