DELMAR - Vivian Inez Snook, 88, a Delmar resident from 1952 to 2010, passed away May 5, 2011 at the Daughters of Sarah Senior Community, Albany. Born January 23, 1923 in Astoria, Queens, NY, she was the first daughter of the late Charles R. and Inez Emma (Gagliano) Mead.
A 1940 graduate of Albany High School, she was employed as a property insurance secretary and claims representative for 31 years, retiring in 1972. She was also a past president of the Insurance Women of Albany.
Vivian enjoyed a 60-year marriage to her late husband, Robert C. Snook, whom she wed on May 16, 1947. She was the sister of Carol D. Mead of Albany and Claire Mead Hyde of Gloversville, aunt of Dana R. Hyde of Gloversville and Timothy M. Hyde of Hagaman, and great aunt of John R. Hyde, also of Hagaman. In addition, she is survived by five cousins, along with Robert's nephew Craig Harper of Golden, CO, and niece Holly Yoakam of Reno, NV.
A memorial service for Vivian and Robert will be held at 10 A M on Thursday, May 12th at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue in Delmar. Rev. Iona Dickinson of the First United Methodist Church, Delmar will officiate. A private joint interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, East Schodack, NY.
The family wishes to thank Daughters of Sarah for the loving care provided to Vivian in her final months of life, and also extends appreciation to neighbors Robert and Charlene Strong of Delmar.
