Virginia Lee Cook, 89, born in Albany, NY on March 10, 1932, died Monday, November 22, 2021.
A lifelong resident of Delmar, NY, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace (Seymour) Lee, and her sister Carol Abbot Smith.
Survivors are her daughter Linda Lee Jessup (Peter) and grandchildren Laura Lee Mulqueen (Joseph) and Michael Gordon Jessup.
Virginia worked for many years as a manager at Leslie’s Albany Credit Bureau, Vogel Van Lines and Shaap Moving Systems. In her younger years she was an avid bowler, participating in various leagues. She enjoyed traveling and made many trips throughout the United States. Virginia especially enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore and New England coast, where she would indulge in her favorite meal, fried soft bellied clams. She also traveled abroad to Australia and Europe.
She was a member of the Valley Forge Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, member of the American Legion, Blanchard Post 1040, lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Delmar, and a member of the Bethlehem Historical Association.
In retirement she kept busy with part time work cleaning banks and working for Umbrella. She kept active with gardening and helping many seniors. Virginia was proudly independent and hard-working, and always enjoyed the company of her many cats over the years.
A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 16 Elsmere Ave., Delmar at 2 pm on Saturday, December 4, 2021. All attendees will be required to wear a mask. Burial in the Bethlehem Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
