ALBANY - Thomas R. Eames, 60, of Albany passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 after a difficult battle with gastric cancer.
Thomas was born in Utica the fourth son of the late Charles B. and Harriet A. Eames. Tom was a graduate of Guilderland Central High School and attended college at SUNY Cobleskill. Tom worked a number of different jobs in his life. He was a NYS Senate page in his early years; he had a long career with Ressus Sporting Goods; and, most recently, in the past three years, as a valued employee at Albany Medical Center in Receiving and Distribution. In his work he made lifelong friends and earned much respect for his hard work and dependability. Tom was a quiet, caring soul who enjoyed quiet Sunday afternoons and games of Scrabble with his parents. He was an avid golfer and played many rounds with friends at numerous courses, from Albany Muni to Castleton to Lake Placid. Almost as much as golf, he enjoyed hiking and nature walks, especially at the Huyck Preserve in Rensselaerville and Five Rivers in Delmar.
Tom is survived by his three older brothers Charles of Waycross, Georgia, and Frederick and David both of Delmar, several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday October 13 at the Delmar Presbyterian Church, 585 Delaware Ave., Delmar. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Tom with a contribution to the Albany Medical Center Foundation, 43 New Scotland Ave., MC 119, Albany, NY 12208 or the Friends of Five Rivers Environmental Education Center, 56 Game Farm Road, Delmar, NY 12054
