Susan Z. Travis

DELMAR – Susan Z. Travis passed away gently in the company of her immediate family on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Albany Medical Center. Susan was born on June 29, 1953 in Tarrytown and raised in Yorktown Heights, NY. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jeffrey L. Travis, and two sons, Jim (Bethany) of Fayetteville, NC and Ross (Britt) of Burlington, VT. She is also survived by her mother, Mary T. Zakett of No. Myrtle Beach, NC and her four brothers: Donald, David, Bruce, and Glen. Susan graduated from Yorktown High School and earned her Bachelor degree in biology at SUNY Plattsburgh. She was most recently employed as an analyst for the New York State Office of Information Technology Services relocating there from the Department of Motor Vehicles. She leaves behind a large group of fond friends and co-workers in both organizations. In addition, Susan was a volunteer at the Egg and often worked in the Box Office and merchandise table for performances. Susan loved her large network of friends and the family wishes to thank them all for the invaluable love, emotional support, and physical help they rose to give as Sue's health declined. We also thank the staffs of NYOH and Albany Medical Center for their consistently first-rate care. Susan's family invites friends and neighbors to join in celebrating Susan's life on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 4 to 7pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at 10am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar. In lieu of flowers, friends and family are asked to make a memorial donation to the Lake Champlain Land Trust at www.lclt.org.
