GLENMONT- WILEY, Stephen Jay, 67, of Glenmont, NY, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, July 19, 2013. Born in Cooperstown, NY, Steve grew up in Cobleskill, NY and graduated from Hamilton College in '68. He taught school in Sharon Springs before attending and graduating from Albany Law in '74. While in law school, Steve met Barbara Webb of McLean, NY to whom he was happily married for 36 years. He was a senior partner in the firm of Featherstonhaugh, Wiley and Clyne LLP. Active in community affairs, Steve served as treasurer of the Board of the Albany Symphony and in numerous capacities with the First United Methodist Church. Steve's greatest love was of his family and friends, for whom he cooked with gusto and creativity. He maintained extensive flower gardens at his home, a joy he learned from his parents, the late Leslie Jay and Ruth H Wiley, who survives him. He was an avid snow skier and enjoyed all water sports, especially boating and water skiing.
In addition to his wife and mother, Steve leaves his daughter, Katherine W. of Washington, DC, his son, Matthew C. of Delmar, NY, his sister, Helen R. Doane of Harwich, MA, two nieces and two nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar, on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 from 3 to 7pm. A Memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 24, First United Methodist Church, 428 Kenwood Ave, Delmar, NY 12054.
