PALMETTO, FL - Royce Quintana, 82 years old, passed away suddenly at home August 16, 2011 in Palmetto, FL.
Born in Albany on May 10, 1929, he grew up in Coeymans, moving to Delmar when he married Janet Nodine in May of 1953. He worked for several years in housing construction prior to joining the Guilderland Central School District where he became Superintendent of Buildings, Grounds and Pupil Transportation, retiring in 1985. After retiring, he and Janet sold their house and moved onto a boat, traveling the eastern seaboard until finally settling down in Palmetto, FL. Royce was also past Chief of Guilderland Center Fire Department, Past Commander of the Manatee Sail and Power Squadron, a 60 year member of Masonic Temple, Bethlehem Lodge # 85 and a Shriner.
Royce was predeceased by his wife, Janet. He leaves behind his daughter Jody TenEyck and her husband George, and his son Scott Quintana and his wife, Carolyn. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, Tara and Ashley Ten Eyck, James, Bethany and Brian Quintana.
A graveside service will be held at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland on Saturday, August 27th at 11:00 AM. Rev. David Corlett will officiate. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Palmetto Presbyterian Church, 1115 10th Ave. West, Palmetto, Fl 34221, in memory of Royce.
