Rose Turner

1925 — August 11, 2011

DELMAR - Rose M. (Corbett) Turner, 85, peacefully made her ascent into Heaven on Thursday, August 11, 2011 from the Barnwell Nursing Home, Valatie, NY. Rose, born in Fort Edward November 6, 1925, was the daughter of the late Merritt and Mary (Beckley) Corbett. The family moved to Green Island, where she spent her childhood as one of seven siblings. Married July 12, 1945, she and husband, Jesse spent most of their lives in Delmar with their 3 children. Retiring in the early 1980's from NYS Dept. of Labor, she and Jesse spent their winters in Flagler Beach, Fl. Returning each summer to their home in Feura Bush, they also enjoyed their trips to the family cabin in Raquette Lake and traveling the coast of Maine. Rose felt very blessed for her loving family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time together, especially with her precious grandchildrenreferring to them as "Gifts from God". Rose, a gifted artist accompanied by a sister and a brother, traveled to Medjugorje where she offered her talents to help restore and paint many religious statues and large murals in local Catholic churches. She was a deeply spiritual woman, living her life with the knowledge that all things were possible with God. Rose was the beloved wife of the late Jesse F. Turner, Jr; Mother of Jeanne C. Turner of Delmar, Jesse F. Turner, III of Feura Bush, and Jill M. Mengel of Westerlo; Grandmother of Jesse F. Turner, IV, Kristen Byrns, Kevin (Holly) Byrns; Great-Grandmother of Samantha Rose Mengel and Elizabeth Rose Byrns. Rose is also survived by a sister, Mary (Corbett) Berger of Grafton, NY and Bunnell, FL. Rose was predeceased by her sisters, Jeanne, Gabrielle, Theresa and her brothers, John, James and Thomas. Rose's family would like to thank the caring staff of the Barnwell Nursing Home for the compassion they showed her while in their care. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass in celebration of Rose's life will be celebrated on Saturday, August 20th at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle, 35 Adams Place, Delmar.
