Rory William Siy, 28, died April 25th in Albany, NY.
Born May 12th 1995, Rory graduated from Doane Stuart School in 2013, where he was awarded the Section 2 Basketball Scholar-Athlete Award and the Central Hudson Valley League Outstanding Senior Athlete for 2012-2013. Rory went on to Boston College where he was named Rookie of the Year (2013-2014) on the Varsity Fencing Team. He learned to fence as a boy at the Gristmill Fencing Club, earning national ranking in the USFA under coach Hope Konecny. Rory graduated in 2017, from Boston College with a B.A. in Philosophy. After college he worked at ClinLab Staffing in Boston where he was an account manager and named the 2019 “Rising Star,” an award that recognizes Positive Attitude, Leadership Skills, Teamwork, Hard-Work and Dedication. Rory loved his friends and family with all his heart and spirit, and he loved life, finding the greatest joy in skateboarding, running, hiking, fishing, drumming, drawing, and especially skiing with friends.
Rory is survived by his parents, Alexandra Siy (maiden name Roberts) of Feura Bush, NY and Eric Siy of Glens Falls, NY; his sister Miela Lucia of Brooklyn; two brothers, Sasha Siy of Houston, TX, and Leo Siy of Feura Bush. He also leaves behind many, many friends, too many to list, his beloved cat, Neo, and his “blood brother” Carson Smith and “niece” Birdy of Monroe, LA.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar, followed by burial at 11:30 in Onesquethaw Cemetery, Tarrytown Road, New Scotland, NY.
