GLENMONT- Ronald George Wainwright, 67, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Albany VA Medical Center after a long battle with ALS.
Ron was born on November 10, 1947 in Syracuse and was the son of the late George and Rose (DeRusso) Wainwright. He proudly and honorably served his country as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a Warehouse Foreman with Buckley Associates in Albany retiring after 23 years of service. Ron loved taking Caribbean cruises with his wife and soulmate, Susan. He will be remembered for his thoughtfulness and compassion and willingness to always help others. Ron enjoyed making a difference in someone else's life and making them laugh. He loved to tinker and build things.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by children, Michael George Wainwright of Clifton Park, Robert L. Wainwright of Glenville, Katie Hammer (Nick) of Albany and Michael Ronald Wainwright of Glenmont; grandchildren, Nicholas, Arianna, Trey and Ella; his sister-in-law "Sis", Pamela Heck of Aiken, SC; and his brother-in-law, Edward Schaier (Mary) of Pensacola, FL.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 8th from 2 to 5 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A committal service with military honors will be performed at 10:30 am on Monday, February 9th at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
