Robert Boyea

1947 — June 11, 2013

DELMAR - Robert J. Boyea (Bob), 65, of Diamond Point and formerly of Delmar, passed away Tuesday June 11, 2013 after a short illness. Bob was born in Saranac Lake on October 27, 1947. He was the son of late Robert O. Boyea and Harriet E. Manley. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Kimball; brother, William Boyea and wife Sue of Malone; sister Bonnie Puglisi and husband Mark of Knoxville, TN; son, Colby K. Boyea of Hannacroix and daughter, Kelly L. Seamster and husband Jake of Esperance; two grandchildren, Nadia Boyea and Leah Seamster; one niece and two nephews. He graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1965 and went on to graduate from Albany Business College to begin his career in sales. Upon completion, he was employed by Woodward Company. For 30 years, he was a sales rep with American Steel in West Albany. Most recently he was in sales with Kivort Steel in Waterford. In 1968 Bob was an active member of the Ravena-Coeymans Jaycees and served on the board of directors. He was an active member of West Albany Fire Department and was made a lifetime member of Delmar Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Throughout his years with the department he was an EMT, paramedic and was later appointed commissioner. Over a 30 year period Bob served on the National Ski Patrol at West, Gore, Maple Ridge and Royal Mountains. He enjoyed various sports such as waterskiing, tennis and participating in the fire department drill team competitions. Bob assisted his wife in the care of orphaned and injured wildlife. However, Bob's greatest passion in life was playing golf. He was a current member at Cronin's Golf Resort in Warrensburg and recently celebrated a hole-in-one. Bob gave 100% effort in all aspects of his life; supporting his family, selling steel, fighting fires, providing emergency medical services, skiing down a black diamond slope and playing golf at dawn. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Bob's family would like to thank friends and family for their support and prayers during his brief illness. Calling hours will be Saturday, June 22nd from 12 to 4 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar with a service at 4 pm. Reception will follow nearby at the Delmar Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital or the Delmar Fire Department.
