Rita Moloney

SLINGERLANDS - Rita Moloney "Nana" died peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the age of 75. She was born on New Year's Eve 1937 in Ballintra, Co. Donegal, Ireland. At the age of 17 she moved to New York City where she worked as a secretary at Aetna Insurance. Several years after she was married she left Aetna to raise her two sons in Queens. When her husband, John retired, they relocated to Slingerlands, NY to be near their grandchildren. Rita leaves behind her devoted husband of 48 years John Moloney, and her sons Sean and his wife Michelle of Delmar and Brendan and his wife Anna Maria of Queens; her four grandchildren John (13), Sheila (11), Michael (9) and Aiden (4); her sisters May Hoey, Bridie Mullahy and Ann O'Donnell and her brother John Gallagher. Rita is predeceased by her sister Margaret Moloney and brothers Patsy Gallagher and Jim Gallagher. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 9:30am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams PL. Delmar. Family and friends are invited to call at Applebee Funeral Home 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 4 to 7pm. Rev. Jeffrey M. L'Arche will lead the rosary at 6:30pm.
