DELMAR – Richard E. Krause, 83, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center. Born in Delmar, he was the son of the late Durrell and Mary (Richards) Krause.
Mr. Krause was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School, Baldwin Wallace University and the University of Illinois where he earned a Master's degree in music. After college he sang professionally beginning with the American Savoyards where he met his loving wife Margaret. He later sang with NBC Opera, NYC Opera, Central City Opera and had many Solo performances at Carnegie Hall and the NY Philharmonic Hall . Richard later went on to become a teacher of his craft of over 20 years as Director of the Music School at the NY Association for the Blind. A great voice has been Lost.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Margaret (Phillips) Krause; his sons Stephen (Ingrid) Krause, Stuart Krause and Richard (Sharon) Krause; his grandchildren, Samantha, Abigayle, Emily, Madeline, Andrew, Alexander and Victoria; his great-grandchildren, Lillian, Nathan and Scarlett; his nieces Karen and Tracy. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Schneider.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11am in the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service beginning at 10am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Salvation Army.
