DELMAR - Casper, Reginald “Reg”, 90, passed away on January 27, 2017 at the Loving Home at the Bluff, Rexford NY. He was born November 12, 1926 in Central Bridge, NY to Ralph and Lila (Warner) Casper, and married August 19, 1951 to Frances (Betty) Hitchcock in Schoharie, NY.
A member of our nation's "Greatest Generation," Reg honorably served in the US Navy during World War II. In 1949, he joined the NYS Freedom Train as the communications officer. Residing in Delmar for over 40 years, he was a devoted husband and beloved father of five children. He worked for over 35 years for New York Telephone in various capacities, eventually as an instructor for their training center in Menands. Other places of residence were Cooperstown, NY and Vero Beach, FL. Reg enjoyed spending his summers with his wife at their camp on Otsego Lake in Cooperstown for many years. Hobbies and interests included golf, bowling and boating on Otsego Lake. He volunteered with the Tri-Village Little League and the Telephone Company Pioneer's Talking Books program. He enjoyed music and had a wonderful singing voice. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Delmar and a long-time member of the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge No. 85, Delmar NY.
He is survived by his five children, Robert (Patricia – deceased) Casper (Oswego, NY), Gary (Debra) Casper, Clifton Park/Brooklyn, NY, Lynne (James Gross) Casper, Albany, NY, Martha (Richard) Eriksen, Latham, NY, Janet Wolfe, (Delmar, NY; 9 grandchildren, Rob Casper, Ted Casper, Ben Casper, Shelly Casper, Jaime Casper, Jennifer Casper, Casey Wolfe, Steffen Wolfe, Graham Wolfe; and one great grandchild, Ramona Casper. His wife, and a daughter Sally predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 11 from 3 to 5 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A memorial service will follow at 5 pm at the funeral home.
