GLENMONT - Randall D. Diegel, Jr., 78, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Ellis Hospital.
Born in Albany on April 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Randall D. and Evelyn Diegel, Sr. A 1954 graduate of Philip Schuyler High School, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War. A truck driver for many years he was a member of the Teamsters Local # 294, Albany. He loved riding his motorcycle and enjoyed camping with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; children, Evelyn (Paul) D'Ambro of Stillwater, Jean (Nathan)Wicks of Rotterdam and Harlow (Mona)Diegel of Delmar; grandchildren, Jack, Sarah, Brandon, Betsy, Jason, Brandon, Zach, Edward, Alicia, Emma, Ella, Corey and Colton; great grandchildren, Sakura, Tsubaki, and Kailyn; brothers, Elmer (Carol), and Leroy (Shirley)Diegel and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. Memorial contributions may be made to the Albany V.A. Hospital, 113 Holland Ave., Albany, NY 12208 or the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
