DELMAR - Ralph Allan Tipple passed away on June 8, 2011. Ralph was born October 19, 1921 in Oswego, NY. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 70 years, Anita; his sons Ralph Timothy (Suzanne) of Warrenton VA, Thomas (Melissa) of Guilderland, NY and Terrence of Palm City, FL. grandsons Matthew (Julie), David (Chenin), Michael and Zachary and 3 great-grandsons.
Ralph was a resident and active member of the Town of Bethlehem community for more than 50 years. He was a longtime member of St. Thomas's parish. Ralph served as Commissioner of Public Safety for the Town of Bethlehem from 1976 to 1982. Prior to that he worked for the New York State Police for nearly 30 years, retiring as a Captain from Troop T. Ralph was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army including active duty in France. Prior to his service he graduated from Becker College in Worcester, Massachusetts where he met Anita, the love of his life.
Ralph loved being a part of the Bethlehem community and had countless friends from involvement in his sons' sports, Town government, St. Thomas and his association with community groups such as the Elsmere Fire Department. Ralph was always a good family man who devoted his energy to supporting his wife, children and their activities. Ralph was known for his affable, decent and charitable approach to life.
During Ralph's illness, he was supported by many caring individuals and organizations. The family would like to especially recognize the efforts of Sister Mary Frederick, SNJM, of St. Thomas.
A funeral mass will be held Monday, June 13 at 9 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Adams Place, Delmar NY. There will be no calling hours; burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Community Caregivers, Inc., 2021 Western Ave. Suite 104, Albany, NY 12203 or St. Thomas the Apostle Church Pastoral Care Program (Sister Mary Frederick) 35 Adams Place, Delmar NY 12054 would be greatly appreciated.
