BOYNTON BEACH, FL - Peter A. Salomone, 97, of Boynton Beach, FL, died on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017.
Born in Dobbs Ferry, NY to Pietro and Angelina (Coppolla), he attended Yonkers Public Schools, graduating from Saunders High School. He served honorably during WWII in the US Navy in Europe and the Pacific. He was stationed on the destroyer escort USS Gleaves and participated in the Allied invasion of Sicily and Italy. Pete worked at IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY for 25 years in the building department. An avid golfer, Pete scored a hole in one on 7-27-92. He was a sports enthusiast and knew every player and statistic. His enjoyments included travelling and cooking for a crowd.
Family members include his wife of 24 years, Marilyn; siblings, Antoinette Babb, Vincent Salomone, Angie Sandt, MaryAnn Edgerton and the late Salvatore, Clement and Marco; step-daughter, Dale Gallagher (husband Jim); grandsons, David and Dylan Gallagher, the late Scott Padgett and his sisters, Bridget and Bobbi; great grand-daughter Chelsea Moffett; nephew, Doctor Mark Peter Salomone and many other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, Nov. 19th from 2 to 4 pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am Monday, Nov. 20th at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
