SLINGERLANDS – Peter W. Dunkerley, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Born in Albany, he was the son of Miriam (Henk) Dunkerley of Menands and the late Harry W. Dunkerley. A U.S. Navy veteran, Peter honorably served his country from 1962 to 1964. He retired from Niagara Mohawk after 35 years of service. Peter was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and playing golf. He enjoyed bowling and was a 50's music aficionado.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda J. (Dunn) Dunkerley; daughters, Heather Fredericksen (Wayne) and Melissa Dunkerley; son, William Dunkerley; three grandchildren, Alicia and Jessica Fredericksen and Christina Dunkerley; sisters, Janet Lawrence (Charles) and Linda Beaver (Stephen); brother, Paul Dunkerley (June); and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, Nov. 29th from 4 to 7 pm at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 85 Elm Ave., Delmar, NY 12054. A funeral service will be held 10 am Monday, Nov. 30th at the church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be sent in Peter's memory to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 253 E.
