DELMAR – Otto A. Vitillo, 94, died on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital, West Islip.
Born in Staten Island, NY and residing in Delmar for over 85 years, he was the husband of the late Mary E. Vitillo and son of the late Raphael and Josephine (Clericuzio) Vitillo. Mr. Vitillo served in Europe as a forward observer in the field artillery with the U.S. Army during WW II and he was subsequently employed with GE for over 30 years working as an instrument technician. He was a longtime communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Mr. Vitillo is survived by a son, Otto D. (Linda) Vitillo; granddaughter, Marieann (Anthony) DeAngelis; two great grandchildren, Kalinn and Michael DeAngelis; sister, Lucy (the late Peter) Verardi; brother, Ralph (Marie) Vitillo; and sisters-in-law, Violet Michele; Mimi (the late Michael) Michele and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Vitillo was predeceased by his son, James, brother, Nicholas, sister-in-law, Jennie, nephew, Nicholas and niece, Josephine Vitillo.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 11th from 4 to 7 pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 12th at 9:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
