DELMAR - Melva (Lee) Piazza Rappazzo, 95, died on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at the St. Peter's Hospice Inn.
Born in Rochester on April, 10, 1917, she grew up in New Baltimore, the daughter of the late Andrew and Marie (Wood) Lee.
Melva married the late Frank P. Piazza and raised three children, Frank P. Piazza, Jr. (Lynne) of Stuyvesant, L. George Piazza (Jennie) and Phyllis Drew (Richard), all of Delmar. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also predeceased by her sister, Crystal McGrail.
Melva worked for many years with her husband at Staats Express, after which she worked as a volunteer at Childs Hospital for over twenty years. After Frank's passing, she married the late Domenic Rappazzo.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Kenwood Manor and St. Peter's Hospice for their kindness and caring.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. A reception will follow at the American Legion, Blanchard Post, 16 W. Poplar Dr., Delmar. Rather than sending flowers, donations may be made in Melva's memory to the Food Pantries for the Capital District, 32 Essex St., Albany, NY 12208.
