Our beloved son Max David Bassinson walked the bridge from this life to the next on March 7, 2015. Max was born on July 10, 1991 to his parents Scott and Meg Bassinson at Albany Medical Center. He was sweet, kind, funny, smart, musical, creative, hard-working, gentlemanly, and generous. He studied classical piano from the age of five, was in the school musicals, and sang in choir. He traveled to Europe with American Music Abroad in 2008. He played baseball from the age of six and was an excellent pitcher. He graduated from Bethlehem High School in 2009. He was currently attending Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota on a scholarship as a piano performance major.
Max battled substance abuse addiction and was victorious. He had built a productive, spiritual, and happy life and was two and a half years clean and sober. In a cruel irony, he was taken suddenly in his sleep by severe, undiagnosed heart disease.
Max leaves to mourn and to always love him his parents, his brother Paul, his love Mary Loewen, his grandmothers, Susan Morse and Julie Bassinson, his grandfather, John Morse, his aunts, Cynthia Morse, Julie Agee and Victoria Westling, his uncles, John Morse, Andrew Morse, Kevin Bassinson, Jeff Bassinson, and Rob Agee, his cousins, Matthew, Sara and Keegan Cole and Willow Lilkas-Morse, great-aunts, uncles, and cousins, his beloved dog, Henry, and countless friends.
Max loved Mary, music, animals, road trips, the beauty of nature, and life itself. He lived a life of service. He is a shining light who beamed on many lives in his short time here.
Calling hours Friday, March 13 at Applebee Funeral Home, Delmar, 4-8 p.m. Service at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, Albany, Saturday at 11 a.m.
