ALBANY: Mary Grace Andriano Von Ronne, affectionately known to her friends as "Grace" or "Gracie", and to her family as "GG" or "Aunt Gracie", passed quietly on Sunday morning, October 12th in the Teresian Home at the age of 98.
Born Maria Grazie Andriano, to Dominic and Maria Cherubina Andriano, she grew up on Madison Ave. in Albany with her sister, Anna Andriano Tangora, and her brother Angelo Altieri. Grace became a beautician and owned her own beauty parlor. She was the dedicated wife of Joseph V. Von Ronne, mother of Ronald J. Von Ronne, grandmother and great grandmother. She practiced to perfection her extraordinary cooking and baking skills. Grace and her husband Joe loved to organize senior trips and were very involved with the Nathaniel Adams Blanchard Post 1040 of the American Legion in Delmar. At 92, she was honored with the 2008 Senior Lifetime Achievement Award for her commitment to family, community and the St. Thomas Parish in Delmar. She was a bundle of energy, always on the go.
She is survived by her son Ron (Judi), her grandchildren Mikko Cook (Brian), Shannon Rody (Jason), Anthony Von Ronne, and Krista Spohr (Rob), and six great grandchildren: Parker and Merry Cook, Willow, Rowan and Phoenix Rody, and Olive Spohr.
A Mass of Christian will be celebrated Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 9:30 AM at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, Delmar. Relatives and friends may call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM.
