Be fully present.
Feel your heart.
And engage the next moment without an agenda.” – Pema Chodron Living Beautifully
Mary Anne (Matheson) Ferentino
December 28, 1949 – May 27, 2017
Mary Ferentino, feminist, foodie, behavior specialist and amateur ornithologist passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2017. Her kind and compassionate soul is now at rest.
Mary was a force of nature, she empowered those around her, made you stand up for yourself, question the norm, set new standards then hold the criteria. She also brought that attitude into her business. For over 30 years, 25,000 dog owners and 150 breeds she shared her passion and knowledge of behavior to improve the lives of dogs and their owners. She taught everyone around her to be kind, to your dog and to yourself.
Her husband, Greg, who was her biggest motivator, positive influence and love of her life, preceded Mary in death. Life in St. Croix, love of art, heated political discussions, cute Corgis and of course everything Apple was a life shared, well lived and loved together.
Mary was born December 28, 1949 in Richmond Hill, NY to the late Theodore and Mary (Wiley) Matheson. Mary is survived by her stepchildren Denis Ferentinos and wife Mary Beth Wenger, Stephanie Ferentinos and Andrea (Ferentinos) Johnson and husband Wade. Siblings Neil Matheson and Jean Braun, niece Linda Braun and nephew Matthew Braun and wife Deirdre also survive Mary.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Applebee Funeral Home in Delmar, NY from 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Planned Parenthood of Albany.
Finally, in remembrance to Mary, believe in yourself, be kind, be strong but don’t sweat the details.
