DELMAR - Mary E. DeGroff, 73, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at her home with her family at her side.
Born in Millerton, NY on December 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Wilma (Cook) Brusie. A longtime area resident, Mary had been active in many activities, especially the Delmar Progress Club and the Board of Elections. Her many hobbies included gardening, knitting and sewing. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Robert F. DeGroff.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Jeffrey DeGroff of Westerlo, Beth K. Rutnik of Delmar and Timothy Brusie DeGroff of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Carol Pynchon and Kathryn Coclough; brothers, John and Orin Brusie; grandchildren, Zacheriah Rutnik and Jessica Rutnik Faour (Luis), and Timothy (Abigail) and Steven DeGroff; close companion, John Farone; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, July 9th from 3 to 6 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A memorial service will follow at 6 pm at the funeral home.
