Delmar – Mark D. Murray, 54, of Middleburgh passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017 after a courageous 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Albany, the son of the late J. Gilford and Virginia Murray, Mark grew up in Glenmont was a graduate of the St. Thomas the Apostle School and Bethlehem Central High School. He was employed as a crane operator for the International Union for Operating Engineers Local 106 for many years before retiring due to his illness in 2016. Mark was an avid hunter, golfer and extremely proud of his Irish heritage and was prone to shenanigans and malarkey!
Mark is survived by his sons, Timothy Weigelt and Daniel Murray of Pennsylvania; his beloved twin brother, Michael Murray (Betty Ayotte) of Westerlo; brother, John G. Murray, Jr. of Vermont and his sisters, Sheila Duffey (Timothy) of Albany and Lisa Murray of Delmar. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his sisters, Marilyn Flores and Joan Smith.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
