Marie Filkins

SUMMERFIELD, FL - Marie "Rita" (Turmel) Filkins, age 88, of Summerfield passed away with her loving son and his wife Sheila by her side Monday, April 30, 2012. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and came to Summerfield, FL from Delmar in 1987. Mrs. Filkins was a retired clerk for Montgomery Wards, Trading Port and A & P Markets and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Belleview, Fl. Mrs. Filkins was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years: Mr. Warren L. Filkins; 2 Brothers: Ralph and Edward Turmel; 4 Sisters: Theresa Salisbury, Lorraine Quick, Alice Geel, Delores Paulis. Surviving are her Son: Richard W. (Sheila Birch) Filkins; Daughter: Carol (Jim Norfolk) Blaise; 2 Brothers: Lawrence Turmel and William Turmel; 4 Sisters: Rose Marie Tomaszewski, Julie Salisbury, Jeannette Kelefont and Evelyn Bader; 5 Grandchildren: Richard Filkins, Brian Filkins, Michael Filkins, Robyn Filkins and Heather Milanovic; 3 Step Grandchildren: Jennifer Birch, Sheila Birch-VanHuesen and Megan Birch and several Great Grandchildren. Family and friends may call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 9:30 AM, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
