DELMAR - Marie-Elaine (Trausneck) DiGregorio, 71, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 unexpectedly at her home in Delmar, NY.
Marie was born in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of the late Albert and Marie (Piemonte) Trausneck and was pre-deceased by her two younger brothers Albert and Keith. She graduated from Yonkers High School, attended Berkeley Business School, and became an executive assistant at Polychrome Corp. in Yonkers, NY, where she met her life long partner, the love of her life, and husband of 49 years, Peter DiGregorio.
Aside from her community involvement and her professional achievements as comptroller, Marie's most prized accomplishment and greatest joy was her family. She is survived by, and will be deeply missed, by her husband Pete; her son Peter DiGregorio Jr., daughter Elaine and husband Greg Bell, and son Robert and wife Luci DiGregorio, and her pride and joy - her five grandchildren: Noah Bell, Zachary DiGregorio, Ellie Grace Bell, Sydney DiGregorio, and Audrey Bell all of whom will miss their Grammie's tremendous chocolate chip cookies, cheers from the sidelines, long talks, art projects, sleepovers, and unwavering love and devotion.
Marie was known for her ease in frequent conversation with all who knew her - even with total strangers; there wasn't a family member, friend, doctor, pharmacist, cashier, butcher, bank teller, or town clerk that did know that she was a proud grandmother of five, a devoted wife and mother, and an incredible Italian cook. Throughout her life, Marie was known as a kind and generous soul, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gifts of love and selflessness were abundant for all and will never be forgotten.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28th from 1 to 4:30 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A memorial service will follow the visitation.
