DELMAR - Marian Van Woert, 94, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Monday, May 26, 2014 at the Village Green at Beverwyck. Born in Albany, Marian was the daughter of the late Irving and Harriet Holmes Van Woert. She was raised in Delmar, and attended Bethlehem Central High School, the site of the present day Middle School. She went on to graduate from Russell Sage College where she majored in French and lived in the French House where only French was spoken. She later attended Mildred Elley Business School and was employed for the greater part of her working life as the office manager in her brother’s (Dr. Irving Van Woert, Jr.) Radiology practice in Delmar. Marian enjoyed photography and extensive travelling, visiting places such as Africa, where she went on a safari, and Sri Lanka. She was an avid swimmer continuing well into her 70’s and early 80’s. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Irving Van Woert of Slingerlands, formerly of Delmar, nieces Joanne Connolly (James) of Voorheesville, Janet Ratliff (Derick) of Cooperstown, Judy Connolly (Paul) of Delmar, and 11 Grandnieces and Grandnephews. “Auntie” will be forever remembered in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, May 29th at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.
