Margaret F. Holmgren

SLINGERLANDS – Margaret F. Holmgren, 89, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018. Born August 2, 1929 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Jean (Gray) French. She graduated from Scotia High School and SUNY Oswego. Margaret taught elementary school in the Bethlehem School District for over 30 years at the Elsmere and Hamagrael Schools. Active in her community, she was a member of the Glenmont Community Church and Delmar Progress Club and volunteered for the Salvation Army. Her enjoyments included playing bridge and tending to her flower garden. Margaret loved her home on Van Wies Point and enjoyed her time overlooking the river. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ralph A. Holmgren; and companion, Robert Broderick. Survivors include her step-daughter, Karen A. (Lowell) Fancher; granddaughter, Kristin Fancher; granddaughter, Emily (Martinez) Etienne, great grandson, Aaron and great granddaughter, Siobhan; grandson, Nathan (Michele) Fancher and great granddaughter, Elaina. She is also survived by a loving extended family and many close friends. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
