Lynn (Bauss) Matthews, 51 of Glenmont went to her eternal home Saturday, October 1.
Born in Nassau County to her loving parents Bud and Carol Bauss, Lynn grew in her faith at Grace Lutheran. She was an easy going young lady that you could find on the handball court. She was passing on her love, smiles and good nature from the beginning.
She met John while earning her BA. They married in 1988 and moved upstate in 1990. She was employed by Audio Video and CNA Surety. After 17 years of marriage, God blessed the family with Joshua, and Lynn became a devoted home school mom. A member of Bethlehem Lutheran (BLC), she instilled the love of the Lord in Joshua. As BLC librarian, she was able to guide others on deepening their faith. Lynn found great support for home schooling while attending a weekly co-operative (CCC), where their love sustained her throughout her well-fought cancer battle. Other sincere friends and caring neighbors bolstered her continually. Sharing journeys with other battlers at To Life! support groups also encouraged her.
Lynn is survived by John and Joshua, her dad, Bud, and devoted sister, Terry (Brian), cousin Roberta (Andy) and numerous loving relatives. Her family encompasses BLC and CCC. She was predeceased by her mom, Carol, who also battled cancer.
Visitation at Applebee Funeral Home, Delmar will be 3 to 7 pm Thursday, October 6. Funeral services Friday 10:30am at BLC, 85 Elm Ave., Delmar followed by interment at Holy Spirit Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BLC, (blcdelmar.com), To Life! (tolife.org), or OurDailyBread.org.
