DELMAR - Lillian (Kotler) Tannen, 89, passed away Friday, December 23rd 2016 at St Mary's Nursing Center in Leonardtown, Maryland
Born in the Bronx on April 29th, 1927, the daughter of Sarah and Jacob Kotler and the youngest of three sisters, Helen and Pauline, she lived and worked most of her life in Manhattan and the Bronx. She graduated from George Washington High School in Washington Heights where she also met the love of her life, her future husband, the late Donald Tannen. Within a month of Donald's Navy discharge after WWII, they were married and spent the next 69 year together.
Lillian worked as an office manager and life insurance agent at several insurance brokerages in addition to raising two sons. She loved crocheting, reading and completing the challenging New York Times crossword puzzles. She and Donald were active in Post 69, of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA.
Lillian's greatest joy and unconditional love was for her family: husband Donald, sons Kenneth with wife Gail, Andrew with wife Jeryl, three grandchildren: Aaron, Joshua and wife Tish, Sarah and husband Chris, two great-grandchildren, Blake and Danika. She also fell in love with Gail's children and grandchildren living in the Albany area.
Friends may call Wednesday, December 28th, from 5 to 7 PM at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar. Internment will occur on Thursday, December 29, Sharon Garden Cemetery, Valhalla, NY with a graveside service at 11:30 AM
