Leland Salisbury

VOORHEESVILLE - Leland Salisbury, age 92, passed away on Monday, 4 May 2020 at Greene Meadows Nursing Home, Catskill, NY. He was the son of the late Oakley and Carrie Way Salisbury and husband of the late Theresa Turmel Salisbury; he was also predeceased by his brothers, Earl, Oakley Jr., Clinton, and sister, Mabel Brate. Leland was an avid deer hunter and clay bird trap shooter and for many years belonged to various gun clubs in the area winning many trophies. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy having served with Seabee Unit CBMU 565. He went to work for Tobin Packing Company shortly after returning home from service and retired when they closed. After retirement, he worked for Orange Motors. He is survived by his children, Joanne Lauster (Ronald) of Virginia Beach, VA; Leland Salisbury Jr. (Sherrie) of Hannacroix; Thomas Salisbury (Maryann) of Coeymans Hollow; Michael Salisbury of Voorheesville, NY and daughter in law Barbara Salisbury of Troy. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ronald J. Lauster, Jr. (Melissa) of Chesapeake, VA; Sara Decker (Matthew) of Hannacroix; Rachel Fronzo (Nicholas) of King George, VA; Steven Salisbury (Lauren) 0f W. Coxsackie; Thomas L. Salisbury of Coeymans Hollow; Aaron Salisbury of Troy and twelve great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be private per Leland's request with burial taking place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, New Salem, NY.
