Kenneth G. Fisher

1943 — November 13, 2022

Kenneth George Fisher, 79, of Delmar, NY, passed away in his home on November 13, 2022 from complications related to cancer.

Kenneth was born on May 6, 1943 to his loving mother, Georgianna Bird Murray and father Kenneth A. Fisher, in Albany, NY.   He spent his childhood in Rensselaer and Selkirk, graduating from Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High School in 1961 and attending college at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas for a brief period.

As a young man, Ken started working in the masonry trade as a laborer, then apprentice, and became a union mason by his early 20s.  He started his own business, working for dozens of residential builders and hundreds of homeowners throughout the Capital District.  He took incredible pride in his work and was a mentor to many aspiring tradesmen, including his oldest son, David.  His beautiful craftsmanship can be found in thousands of homes throughout the area.

Kenneth married Sharon Van Hensbergen in 1970 and raised three boys in Glenmont on the shores of the Hudson River in the house he had built for his family.  His home was full of his laughter around the dinner table, extended family gatherings on holiday weekends, and countless adventures on and around the river.  Ken, or Uncle Butch to his many nieces and nephews,  was extremely hard-working, always looking out for those close to him and determined to give his family the life he felt they deserved.  Kenneth was unendingly proud of his boys and the life he had shared with his wife. He always did his best to provide them with the knowledge, skills and support needed to be happy and successful.

Kenneth was predeceased by his mother, Georgianna, his father Kenneth, and his wife, Sharon.

Kenneth is survived by his cherished children, David Fisher, Matthew Fisher (Zoe McKee), and Jonathan (Annie) Fisher.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Abby, Zachary, Austin, Emelia, Mason and Cedric; and his sisters Leona Bonacci, Georgia Yoemans and Starr Adriance.

The family would like to thank the Community Hospice of Albany and Kenneth’s dear friend, Carol Ann Rose Gagner

for being a great companion these past years and a wonderful caregiver during his last months.

Kenneth was laid to rest in a private ceremony, Saturday, May 20th, surrounded by friends and family.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his honor be made to community hospice
