DELMAR -Kenneth S. Bauer Sr., 90, has now fulfilled his lifelong adult dream of being reunited with God on Thursday, February 6, 2014. At the time of his passing he was residing at the Bethlehem Commons Residential Care Center.
Ken was born on May 21, 1923 in Baltimore Maryland, the son of the late Ernest and Ruth Bauer. In 1943 he enlisted in the Air Force, 736th Bomb Squad, where he flew 43 missions as an Aerial "Belly" Gunner. Upon his discharge in 1945 he returned to Baltimore where he met his future wife, Helen Bluett.
He began working for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in 1946 and retired in 1985. He was deeply involved with the Boy Scout Troop 58 as Scout Master for many years, fondly know to his boys as "K.B." He was a member of the Menands Rotary, which he continued until recent months.
Ken was an active member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Delmar where he served in many different capacities over the years.
Ken is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen. Together they raised their four children, Kathleen Fairbank of Slingerlands; Kenneth (Deborah) of Lakeland, Florida; Gary of Ravena and Penny Bonanno (Robert) of Glenmont. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew Fairbank (Karen), Adam Fairbank, Nicholas and Theresa Bonanno; and great grandchildren, Jack, Alex, Kate and Keegan.
He is predeceased by his brother Earnest (Ted), and sister, Betty Jane Sherman. His brother, Robert of Utah, survives him. He is also survived by his loving cat and companion Meshia.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, February 10th from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, February 11th at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Delmar. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar.
