DELMAR - Kathryn E. Williams, 95, of Voorheesville died Monday May 4, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village in Bethlehem Commons where she received tender care for the past four months.
She was born and educated in Albany, a valedictorian graduate of Cathedral Academy and the College of Saint Rose where she earned two degrees in education and accounting, and a masters degree in economics. She was an educator first and foremost, as a teacher at the Vincentian Institute, as a professor at Maria College, and an adjunct professor at the College of Saint Rose and the State University of New York at Albany. Mrs. Williams later developed computerized systems for the Albany Catholic Diocese. She later began her own company where she developed information technology and systems analysis.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a Plate-Glass member of the Albany Curling Club, was on the Board of the Albany Institute of History and Art, and worked on the Festival of Trees celebration. In addition, she was active in the Delmar Progress Club, Scholarship Selection Committee, the Historic Albany Holiday House Tour, the Normanside Country Club, and her bridge club. She was a master gardener, an avid reader and enjoyed cards, cross word puzzles and games as well.
Survivors include her son Terrance P. Williams, her sister-in-law Mavis Bushhouse, nieces Deb (Kevin) Trout, Cathy Bushhouse (Brian Walsh), Diane (Pete) Curio, and great nieces and nephews Caite, Ben, Eric, Alex, Kyle, and Kirsten. Also survived by Ginnie Smith, Paul Smith, Barbara Smith (Jack Reilly), and Mary K. Smith (Tom Trono).
She was predeceased by her husband George E. Williams, by her father Frederick E. Bushhouse and her mother Mary Agnes Smith, her brother Frederick E. Bushhouse, as well as her adventurous friends Alice James and Hazel Grenier, and Sister Raphael (given name Jean Smith).
A memorial celebration will be held on Thursday, May 7th from 9 am to 10 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am with Father Daley and Father Walsh officiating.
Her son Terrance would like to thank the wonderful staff at Good Samaritan for the compassion, care and treatment she received there. The joyful camaraderie that Kaye enjoyed with the nurses, doctors and attendants was much appreciated.
