Kathryn D. Campion

October 26, 1958 — July 25, 2024

Delmar

Kathryn Ilene (Dunn) Campion, “Kathy”, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and sons on July 25th, 2024 at age 65. Born in Dedham, MA to Irene Dunn and the late John Dunn, Kathy enjoyed early life in the Boston suburbs with her older brother Terry and younger sister Maureen where she attended numerous Boston sporting events and beach trips to Cape Cod. Kathy graduated from Dedham High School in 1976 and enrolled at Boston College where she majored in teaching and second languages, becoming fluent in both Spanish and French. Kathy then started an adventurous life journey of traveling to European countries to immerse herself in these languages and cultures. During her post-college days of traveling and teaching, she met and fell in love with Patrick Parker Campion of Albany, NY.

Kathy and Pat began building their lives together living in New Hampshire before getting married in Cape Cod in 1984 and eventually settling into a home in Delmar, NY. In 1989, Kathy and Pat welcomed their first born son, Patrick, after Kathy had begun teaching Spanish and French at Mohanasen Middle School and then Bethlehem Middle School. At Bethlehem, Kathy would go on to build a second family of amazing teachers, administrators, and students that she cherished with all her heart. In 1994, Kathy and Pat welcomed their second son, Bradford, and enjoyed raising their two boys alongside great neighbors, friends, and family throughout the Albany area.

Kathy loved taking her boys and their friends to endless soccer games, ski trips, waterparks, and any other activity to enjoy life. Kathy was never scared of an adrenaline filled moment, having frequently ridden roller coasters with her boys, going cliff jumping in the Adirondacks, surfing in Cape Cod, and even ziplining with her mother and brother in Costa Rica just several months ago.

After an amazing teaching career of 32 years, Kathy retired in 2019 and got to spend more time traveling and sharing laughs with her friends in Albany and family in Massachusetts. She touched thousands of lives through her passion for other languages and appreciated all the love and support everyone sent her over the last few months as she battled pancreatic cancer. Kathy enjoyed getting up early in the morning to read a book, sip a cup of coffee, have a muffin, and sit with the family’s dogs over the years (Casey, Shelby, Cody). She carried a compassionate spirit and a strong Catholic faith throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and community.

Kathy is predeceased by her father, John Dunn, and is survived by her husband, Patrick Campion, and her sons, Patrick and Brad and Brad’s wife Meghan Campion; and her mother, Irene Dunn, her sister Maureen Hall (Dunn) and brother-in-law Bucky Hall, and brother Terry Dunn and sister-in-law Maura Dunn. She was a loving sister-in-law and aunt to dozens of nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
