Julia Alice (Doyle) Stone, 78, of Delmar died on August 7, 2023.
Born in Albany, NY on October 5, 1944, she was the daughter of the late John Francis Augustus Doyle and Esther Caroline (Higby) Doyle.
Julia was a lifelong Delmar resident, except for a brief three-year detour via Washington, DC, Upper Marlboro, MD and Feura Bush.
After retiring from the Albany County of Social Services, Children & Family Services, Julia enjoyed an active online community. She was a prolific contributor and supervisor of Answers.com in the English Language Arts section. Her love of nature and observation of life was prevalent in her joy of sharing livestream videos of her beloved Decorah Eagles in Iowa, the Mason Elephant Park in Taro, Ubad, Bali and so many others. It was her way of seeing that the world was still out there. And through these online communities, she made many, many friends through correspondence.
Julia is survived by her children, Valerie Stone of Delmar, NY and Laura Schatke (Thomas) of Ravena, NY; siblings, John Doyle of Inwood, WV, Angela A. (Sandy) Cushing (Dennis), Mims, FL, Matthew Doyle, Greenfield, OH, and Michael Doyle (Carol), Spring Hill, TN; and nieces & nephews: Mary McVey, John Doyle, Susan Colvin, Mark Doyle, Christopher Doyle, Nicholas Doyle & Benjamin Doyle.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Caroline Doyle and her nephew, Robert Matthew Cushing.
A very special thank you to Jennifer Anthus for the compassion, guidance and support you offered Julia during her last few months and the support you continue to show her family. We are grateful for friends like you.
Julia will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, 9W, Glenmont, NY.
Donations can be made in her memory to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
