DELMAR – Judy Doyle, 77, died Sunday January 19, following a brief illness. Judy was the daughter of the late Herbert and Sarah Applebaum and wife of the late Ralph Doyle.
She was born in Brooklyn where she attended public schools and graduated from Brooklyn College. She worked for many years at the State Insurance Department and was a strong advocate for patients’ rights in their disputes with health insurance providers. In retirement, Judy and Ralph enjoyed seeing the world with their close family with visits to Europe, Greece, Ireland, Egypt, Peru, and Alaska. She enjoyed her books, current events, working on the family calendar, and watching golf and tennis. But her biggest joy was her children and grandchildren, whom she always doted on with love, compassion, and support.
Judy is survived by her daughter Rebecca Falcone (Anthony), son David Doyle (Shawn), and four wonderful grandchildren Nicholas, Oliver, Dylan, and Archie. As an only child, she was blessed to have married into a large family and her brothers and sisters-in-law became her siblings including Fern and the late Johnny Briggs, Claudia Marshall, Fred Doyle and Liz McPhail, and Heidi and Michael Clune. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whose lives she always followed with great interest. Her dear friends of over fifty years, Sally Izzard and Lois Waters, were always there for her.
The family will receive visitors at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave. Delmar on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00pm.
Interment will be private at a later date.
Judy supported many charitable organizations. St. Jude’s was one that she often donated to, www.stjude.org. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to a cause that is meaningful to you and your family.
